Wondering what we’ve been up to?  Here are some images from a project that’s currently keeping me occupied.  The contractor is busy demolishing the interior as we speak and I’m working on the detail drawings.  We’re taking a solid, somewhat traditional house and reworking the interior to open it up and make it modern.  It’s amazing what knocking down a couple of walls will do.  Eventually we hope to do some work on the exterior as it has some unfortunate traditional applique, but underneath the makeup there’s a simple box that would lend itself really beautifully to a modern composition.  In the meantime, the exterior walls will get a shot of badly needed insulation and vapour barrier from the inside where possible.

Whew.  Time to do an update as I’ve been rather lax.  Blogging, that is – we’re busy on a number of different projects right now.  On the commercial side, we’re working on a biology lab renovation at Taylor University College (the college is tucked away on 23rd avenue on a positively rural site.  It’s got some beautiful late 60’s buildings that are reminiscent of Wensley’s work).  James is busy with various interior upgrades at the Derrick Golf + Winter Club.  And I’m focused on play.house and interior renovations for two houses -one in Belgravia, the other in Devon.  The Devon property has spectacular views of the river valley – and at this time of year it’s a marvel with the river slowly winding away into the distance, the trees a spectacular mix of conifer and yellow aspen.
